Contract Counsellor

Wellington Rape Crisis has been providing free services to survivors of rape and sexual abuse for nearly 40 years and we require contract counsellors to provide counselling to survivors of sexual violence through the ACC Integrated Sensitive Claims Service.

You do not have to be currently registered with ACC but must be eligible for registration (qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy, registered with professional body, current APC and post graduate experience with survivors and/or experience working with mental health.

Job description:

To provide ACC ISSC treatment for clients of Wellington Rape Crisis in accordance with the ACC Operational guidelines, WRC ‘Code of Ethics’ , and ‘Constitution’. All counsellors must work in accordance with WRC’s Support Services Manual and WRC’s feminist empowerment model and have a commitment to biculturalism.

Primary Responsibilities:    

To provide counselling to a negotiated number of clients in partnership with the agency’s support service and in accordance with the centre’s constitution and philosophy.

To provide ACC treatment, to manage ACC clients’ smooth progression through ACC system.

To work with the WRC Services Coordinator to ensure any non-counselling support needs the client has are being met, (eg social work, crisis support, family sessions or culturally appropriate support work)

To ensure all ACC reports are completed on the correct templates and submitted within the specified time frames.

To comply with ACC’s Integrated Sensitive Claims Service Operational Guidelines.
