ANZAP: “Exploring the Conversational Model and Dissociation” seminar 1, Dunedin

July 5 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

ANZAP – The Conversational Model – Dunedin, NZ

Introduction to the Conversational Model and working with borderline personality disorder: What is the Conversational Model and how does it Work?

This is a 90 min talk to introduce mental health practitioners and psychotherapists to the Conversational Model. The Conversational Model is an adapted psychodynamic psychotherapy, developed by Professor Russell Meares in Sydney over the past three decades, with a particular emphasis on working with patients with borderline personality disorder in individual outpatient psychotherapy.

This seminar will cover the theory of how the model works, how this translates into treatment of clients with borderline personality disorder, as well as other disorders. It will include a clinical case example to illustrate how change occurs. There will also be information on controlled outcome studies, and a randomised controlled trial using this model in borderline personality disorder treatment.

ANZAP will offer a one year distance training course in using this model commencing in 2019 for any interested clinicians.
