Job Vacancy Counsellor-Advocate Refugee Trauma Recovery (closes 10 October)


30 hours per week- closes on Friday 10th October.

Refugee Trauma Recovery (previously Wellington Refugees as Survivors Trust) provides specialised mental health services to refugees who have experienced trauma of war, refugee life, exile and/or torture.

Applicants will need a relevant qualification in: clinical psychology, psychotherapy or counselling and a minimum of three years relevant experience in clinical and needs assessments, counselling, therapy and advocacy. Knowledge and experience of human development, attachment theory, family systems, grief and loss, sound knowledge of trauma and its possible impact on people’s lives, high cultural competence and advocacy skills are essential. Experience in working with interpreters an advantage. A current driver’s license is essential as is membership/registration of relevant professional body.

The multidiscipline team includes a Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, Counsellors, Psychotherapists, and a Cross Cultural advocate.
