Refugee Trauma Recovery Wellington provides specialised mental health services to refugees who have experienced trauma of war, torture, refugee life, exile.

Applicants will need a relevant qualification in: clinical psychology, psychotherapy or counselling and a minimum of three years relevant experience in clinical and needs assessments, counselling and therapy. Knowledge and experience of human development, attachment theory, family systems, grief and loss, sound knowledge of trauma and its possible impact on people’s lives and high cultural competence are essential. Experience working with clients from a refugee background and some advocacy experience an advantage as is experience in working with interpreters. A current driver’s license is essential as is a Registration/full membership with the relevant professional body.

The successful applicant will join a multidiscipline team including a Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologists, Counsellors, Psychotherapists, and a Social Worker and be able to work successfully with our male clients who come from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultural norms.

In addition to a fair hourly rate, the remuneration package includes: kiwi saver 3%; external professional supervision; training opportunities; payment of professional fees; flexible hours and days; a subsidised car park close to R T R; and a supportive and friendly team environment.
