Art Therapist (Children and Family)

24 hours per week

Te Omanga Hospice provides specialist palliative care to people in the Hutt Valley through a multi disciplinary team approach

We are looking for an Art Therapist experienced in working with children and family groups in health care, preferably in palliative area. This role includes:

  • Providing specialist assessments of children and family psychosocial needs, care plan development and case management,
  • Supporting patients, children and families of patients living with a life limiting illness, at end of life and in bereavement through art therapy, psycho-education and family work,
  • Contribution to service development with a proactive approach to identifying the needs of children and families,
  • Liaising with other health care providers, and
  • Providing education in palliative psychosocial care.

The applicant must have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Art Therapy
  • Professional membership with the Australian & New Zealand Art Therapy Association (ANZATA) or equivalent
  • Sound practical experience
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, patient centred care within a multidisciplinary and holistic approach
  • Experience in health care settings
