Vacancy: Social worker, South Auckland

We are looking for a new team member for our very busy service.

Are you an experienced social worker with knowledge of the dynamics of crisis intervention, sexual and family harm? Have you got links to local iwi and other relevant Māori networks? Are you able to work with a diverse population?

The Counselling Services Centre (CSC) is a not for profit agency located in South Auckland. Our funding comes from a variety of sources, including Ministry contracts, grants and donations. We are reliant upon this funding to be able to provide an affordable service to the community of South Auckland.

The counselling team consists of a diverse group of counsellors with a wide range of skills. Some of our counsellors are ACC registered and provide counselling for people affected by sexual violence. We also have contracts for counselling with Ministry of Social Development and Ministry for Vulnerable Children, Oranga Tamariki to provide a range of counselling services to those affected by emotional trauma including domestic violence/sexual violence. Our counsellors also provide counselling for other issues including grief and loss, mental health, relationship difficulties, and Employee Assistance Programmes to name a few.

The Crisis Response team provides a 24/7 crisis response service for all victims of sexual violence within Counties Manukau, and, at times, the greater Auckland area. The team consists of both day staff and after-hours staff, to ensure that support is available to those who need it.

This role is for a Social Worker to provide an effective social work service to children and their families/whānau in the Counties Manukau area; to work with staff within Counselling Services Centre to assist in a seamless delivery of its advocacy and support services to families/whānau including ACC clients; to implement a school based program supporting pupils who have been effected by family violence; to co-ordinate with referral agencies as required in the delivery of advocacy and support of families/whānau; to deliver quality services within the practice area:

  1. In accordance with CSC Policy and Procedures
  2. That deliver a quality service to our clients that ensures their safety needs are met
  3. In a culturally appropriate manner and consistent with the CSC code of practice
  4. In a cost effective and timely manner
