Clarification of Student membership

Student Membership of New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists Te Rōpū Whakaora Hinengaro

Student members are enrolled in a course of study. They have completed at least one year and are engaged in gaining clinical experience through a work placement.

As student members of NZAP they may:

• Attend local branch meetings and be included in that branch’s email list

• Attend the annual NZAP conference at the members rate or pay a student fee if one is offered

• Receive copies of the NZAP newsletters • Receive Inform emails to advise them of NZAP matters

• Join Connect, an on line chat group

• Attend professional development trainings at the member rate

• Access a digital copy of Ata through the website

Student membership does not qualify them to:

• Vote at the AGM or stand for office

• Nominate members for any office of the association

• Be covered by the NZAP Code of Ethics as they are still accountable to their training institution for their clinical, professional and ethical practice

• Receive advocacy and support from NZAP as this function is provided by their training institution

• Join the NZAP insurance scheme NZAP does not support directly student members who begin to see clients in private practice as NZAP has no oversight of supervision and training arrangements.
